Simpson Thacher represented Nacional Financiera, Sociedad Nacional de Credito, Institucion de Banca de Desarrollo (Nafin) in connection with its offering of USD500 million 3.375% Notes due 2020. The transaction was consummated pursuant to Rule 144A and Regulation S.
This was the first Green Bond transaction undertaken by a development bank in Latin America and the first of its kind in Mexico and represented Nafin's first bond offering in the international capital markets in more than 18 years. The proceeds from the offering were to be used to fund loans to renewable energy projects In Mexico, including wind energy generation and transmission infrastructure for wind energy projects.
